It happened when I was 15/16! My Father is a man of exceptional talent and he was granted permission to live in the United States with his new wife and my step brother.
Times were pretty bad for me after I left secondary school and my life was sort of heading down a dark path, so my Father decided to take responsibility and raise me for a while after 10 years of seperation.
It was a long winded process, I remember standing in the American Embassy for 12 hours. You’re not allowed to have any electronic devices on you when you enter, so it was literally 12 hours of sitting around and waiting.
As far as I know it was pretty expensive to bring me over there, but I don’t know the specifics. My Family try not to tell me much— probably because they think I have enough on my plate just dealing with my own life or never showed much interest as I was very withdrawn around the time.
I almost got a green card myself but due to family situations I was forced to return to England— which annoys me to this day. I really hope I can return to America one day, but immigration is one hell of a wall.
Thanks for asking!
